These versatile paper flowers can be turned into bouquets, centerpieces, hair adornments, and more.  We’ll post pictures closer to the weekend to give you some inspiration, but we hope to see you in person!

On Saturday, the 2010 Spring Craft Market took over Downtown Flint.  Flint Handmade organized a great craft crawl of 60+ vendors over 5 different locations.  We were absolutely blown away by all our fellow crafty folk.  Michigan, you got some talent!  Thanks so much for having us and to everyone involved!

The bonus of our traveling up to Flint was that it put us close enough to visit our parents in Canada.  Ohhh the looks on the border guards’ faces when they looked in the backseat of our car.  Admittedly, a wire dress form surrounded by other odds and ends does beg some questions.

So the weekend was a success!  Now we’ve got to keep this momentum going.  May is going to be a month of making since we’ve got 4 shows in June.  Our hands might fall off, but we’ll be sure to find an adorable way to reattach them.

So, what’s this blog all about? It’s a question we’ve been working on for some time. Sure, we can tell you all about what we’re up to, but what else? Well, it certainly won’t be advice on how to be organized. Our apartment has craft supplies from one end to the other. There are end tables with bits of yarn and bowls with random buttons. Our windowsills have tins filled with beads and markers, while our dining room table is a battleground where dinner rarely wins.

We tackled this question over tea at the Julius Meinl cafe, a local gem. And why were we there? Here’s a hint- we probably won’t be writing a motivational blog, either. Crafting at home is a happy thing, but we lose our focus when we’re trying to accomplish anything else. It doesn’t matter how important a task is, we’d rather just be playing with threads and beads and shiny things.

Are these things so bad? Cheerful clutter and a love of handmade…it could be worse. (Although, the guy in this house sincerely hopes it does not get worse.) So, we’ll be real with you. You’ll get our stories from the crafty trenches in all their felted, hand-stitched, and crocheted detail. We’ll keep you updated on our new projects, our latest adventures in Chicago and beyond, and how much we love cupcakes. Because, man, do we love cupcakes.
